Legal
Acceptable use
These rules apply to every workspace, API key, webhook, and payment page on Cortana. You are responsible for people who use keys or pages you control.
The operator
Cortana is the service name. This website does not publish a legal name or postal address for the operator. Both are available on request. Write to [email protected].
Card testing
Do not use the service to test cards, to guess card details, or to run a payment you do not intend as a real charge for a real purchase. A charge made only to see whether a card works is card testing. Test mode is for trying the product with test credentials, not for checking a live card.
Authority to charge
Do not take a payment for someone else unless that person has given you authority to take it. Do not create a payment page, invoice, or charge that presents another business as the seller. The seller is the business behind the payment account you connected.
Webhooks and the API
Do not abuse webhooks or the API. Do not forge events, replay an event to change a payment record, flood an endpoint, publish a secret key, or use a key to reach a workspace that is not yours. An idempotency key is for one real action, sent once.
Other misuse
Do not probe the service, attempt to read data in another workspace, or use Cortana in a way that puts payments of other merchants at risk. You are also responsible for keeping the payments you take within the rules that apply to your own business.
If you break the rules
We may suspend the workspace and refuse further use of the service. The terms describe suspension and the limit on liability.
How to read these pages
These are general terms. They are not a substitute for legal advice. A signed order beats this website summary. Where a signed order disagrees with this page, the signed order controls.
